Seasons of Strength | Rosy Movement

At ROSY, we believe that the routine of exercise doesn’t have to be rigid. Whether it's a private Pilates session with your favourite instructor, a group apparatus class, or simply using a mat to ground yourself, there's no pressure to follow any one path. Every plan is personalised to fit your needs, and we’re here to support you in making the adjustments necessary for you to move in a way that feels good. Whatever you’re doing, wherever you are in your fitness journey, ROSY is here to empower you, and we’re so happy to walk beside you.

The People of Rosy

When I sit down to write these red-letters and share the heart of ROSY, I draw inspiration from many places. But what truly lights my soul on fire is the incredible people I get to work with—the ones who choose ROSY. Each person brings their own unique energy and perspective, and I’m constantly amazed by their stories and the depth of their journeys.

As I listen and learn from each of you, I’m reminded that ROSY Movement isn’t just a Pilates studio in Collingwood—it’s a community where we connect, share experiences, and find warmth, love, and inspiration in each other.

So, I’m excited to introduce the first in a series of spontaneous, occasional stories about “THE PEOPLE OF ROSY” in the hope that you can feel the inspiration that I get to experience every day.

Lots of love, Alannah xxx

A Moth to a flame

We first met Renee early last year in a small business coaching group. She is the genius behind ROSY’s stunning visuals —Cultivate Assembly. Her energy is magnetic— like a moth to a flame. When you’re in her presence, it’s impossible not to be inspired to become the best version of yourself. Renee’s following reflection speaks to embracing the fluidity of life’s seasons and accepting the change in our bodies, cultivating a personal resilience and wisdom that are uniquely our own.

Seasons of Strength

My relationship with body and movement is a series of stories and moments, but most profoundly marked by three chapters: two pregnancies and a knee reconstruction. Each one stripped away any idea of control I thought I had over my body. Each of these times, especially in pregnancy, everything changed rapidly – it was an unchartered realm – and I felt completely at the mercy of time and healing.

It always astounds me how much strength you can find when you need to. Any mother knows what I'm talking about. I mean, pushing out a baby is pretty epic. But it's the what happens after these defining moments that really forces you to look inward. You start learning exactly what your body can and cannot do, and there's actually a lot of joy in that process, even when it's filled with pain and aggravation.

Your body goes through seasons – I'm not the same as I was in my early 20s, and I don't expect to be. Back then, I joined gyms and went running because I thought that's what you were supposed to do. Then in my thirties, being a young mum changed everything – the way you move, what you're required to do for young kids, it's all different. Now I'm in the good ol’ perimenopausal phase, and I'm still learning – in particular I’m showing myself more kindness and cutting myself some slack.

What has really clicked for me is that embracing whatever season you're in – that's where you build resilience. Movement has become part of my life instead of something I have to schedule and plan. And it's amazing how that shifts everything else – my creativity, my work, my whole mindset really depends on how I'm moving and who I'm moving with that week.

Sometimes I do guided work with Alannah at Rosy Movement, sometimes I walk with family, sometimes I just take myself on little expeditions. There's no schedule, no rules. It's just... free. And that's exactly how I want to live.

Whether you’re in Collingwood or tuning in for a virtual Pilates session, at ROSY we’re committed to celebrating whatever season you’re in. Our non-diet Pilates philosophy supports every body type, helping you to discover your strength in each season. We are a weight-inclusive Pilates studio where you can embrace movement and nurture your body without judgment.
