ABOUT
ROSY MOVEMENT
MOVE WITH JOY NOT RULES
OUR WHY
FOR YOU TO FEEL SEEN AND HEARD
At Rosy Movement, we believe movement should be intuitive, joyful, and empowering. Now established in our Collingwood studio, we're creating a space where pilates and exercise becomes a celebration rather than a chore.
OUR GOAL
CREATING SPACE FOR YOU TO REMEMBER YOUR BODY’S WISDOM
We support you in discovering movement that feels right for you, based on what brings you joy, strength and comfort, not external rules. Because exercise isn't about what we do to our bodies or what it does to us—it's about what we do with our bodies that makes our lives better.
OUR APPROACH
A PERFECTION-FREE SPACE WHERE LEARNING THRIVES
Too often, we avoid exercising because we fear judgment or feel we don't belong. In a fitness culture obsessed with metrics and performance, where we're taught to prioritise data and external expectations over our own inner knowing. We've lost touch with the simple joy of moving our bodies exactly as they are.
Our commitment is to create a space so welcoming and supportive that you can let go of worrying about how you look, how you're performing, or whether you're doing it 'right'—and instead trust that however you show up today and move is enough. When you feel this safe and seen, your body responds with a willingness to move in ways that genuinely nourish and strengthen you.

ABOUT
ALANNAH MILLER
[& BEAR]
PILATES TEACHER | MOVEMENT & EXERCISE SCIENTIST
As the founder and principal of Rosy Movement, Alannah brings nearly a decade of teaching experience combined with a unique background that bridges the worlds of movement artistry and exercise science.
What drives your approach to movement?
While teaching pilates is central to my life and work, I remain conscious of the capacity that exercise has in helping people feel strong, capable, and fulfilled. Without acknowledging the multifaceted nature of what it is to be human and being curious about the story of each unique person, people can often leave fitness spaces feeling misunderstood and disconnected.
How did your journey to founding Rosy Movement begin?
My path began in the dance world, where movement was both an art form and a means of expression. When I discovered Pilates, I fell in love with how strong I felt—a connection that led me toward becoming a pilates teacher and studying exercise science. I’ve spent the last decade working in the fitness industry, learning to weave together the cathartic and intuitive aspects of movement with research-informed understanding. Rosy Movement was born from this desire to create a space where scientific knowledge serves compassionate care, and exercising becomes a pathway to reconnection rather than judgment or expectation.
What's your approach to working with clients?
I create a cozy, inviting pilates experience where you feel unapologetically safe to show up exactly as you are. I'm fiercely committed to stripping away any judgment or expectation that you need to perform or move in a certain way. How you move today is exactly as it should be, and it's my honour to attune to that—creating an experience that leaves you feeling better than when you arrived, while staying true to your goals and aspirations.
What might surprise people about your teaching style?
Many people expect Pilates to be rigid and prescriptive, so they're often surprised by how collaborative and exploratory our sessions are. I'm not interested in being the all-knowing instructor who dictates every move—I'm much more passionate about creating an environment where you can connect with your body, discover what works and what doesn't, and build the confidence to explore those discoveries and make movement choices for yourself.
What's your favourite thing about the Collingwood community?
Collingwood has this wonderful blend of creative energy and community spirit that perfectly aligns with Rosy Movement's ethos. I love the local cafes, the street art, and the sense that everyone is welcome exactly as they are. The neighbourhood's diversity and openness mirror what I strive to create in the studio every day.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERTISE
Exercise Scientist (AES, ESSA Accredited)
Certificate IV in Mat & Reformer Pilates and Fitness

Former Professional Dancer
At Rosy Movement, Alannah combines her scientific knowledge, pilates expertise, and compassionate approach to create transformative experiences that prioritise how you feel in your body over how your body looks or performs. Her teaching emphasises building autonomy and self-trust, creating a foundation for movement that extends well beyond the studio walls.
AND MEET BEAR
STUDIO MANAGER & CHIEF WELCOMER
Bear serves as Rosy Movement's unofficial studio manager, chief welcomer, and emotional support companion. This lovable canine brings warmth and calm to the space (though you'll primarily find him making appearances for regular clients and private sessions—he values exclusivity!). Bear is always up for a cuddle and believes firmly that movement should be joyful and stress-free.
ABOUT
SUSAN DOWD
PILATES TEACHER
As a pilates teacher at Rosy Movement, Susan brings a refreshingly practical approach to movement that prioritises how exercise feels over how it looks.
With her background in communications and ongoing professional pilates training, she creates sessions that balance challenge with adaptability, meeting you exactly where you are on any given day.
What drives your approach to movement?
Constant learning and making things feel good. I'm fascinated by the endless possibilities within pilates practice and how we can adapt movement to serve our bodies rather than the other way around.
What's your approach to working with clients?
Collaboration, consistency and kindness form the foundation of how I work. Movement shouldn't feel like a test you're trying to pass—it's a conversation between you and your body, and I'm here to facilitate that dialogue with steady support and genuine care.
What might surprise people about your teaching style?
I really don't think there is a perfect way of doing pilates and don't care about the way something looks when you do it. What matters is how a movement feels in your body and whether it's serving your goals. This approach often surprises people who expect rigid perfectionism, but it's incredibly freeing once you experience it.
What's your favourite thing about the Collingwood community?
It's warm, eclectic and has lots of delicious food options. There's something wonderful about working in a neighbourhood that celebrates diversity and creativity in all its forms—including how we move our bodies.
A few of Susan's favourite things:
Her partner, her cat, chocolate, quiet weekends, and yes—pilates (genuinely!)

ABOUT
LEIA MULROY
YOGA & PILATES TEACHER
As a yoga teacher at Rosy Movement, Leia brings an integrative approach that honours connection over performance, weaving together yoga, Pilates, functional movement, myofascial release, and pranayama to create truly personalised experiences.
What drives your approach to movement?
Connection sits at the heart of everything I do—not just physical connection, but helping people find more presence and awareness in their breathing, their mental and emotional states, and their overall sense of being. Movement becomes a pathway back to yourself rather than another thing to perfect.
What's your approach to working with clients?
My approach is personalised and collaborative. I want to understand each person's goals, lifestyle, and movement patterns so our sessions feel focused and genuinely supportive of their individual needs. This is a partnership, not a situation where I'm the teacher and you're simply following instructions. We're creating something together.
What might surprise people about your teaching style?
I draw from everything I love and have trained in—Pilates, yoga, functional movement, myofascial release, and pranayama. Sessions might incorporate any combination of these, depending on what your body needs that day. People often don't expect this kind of integrative approach, but it allows us to meet whatever you're experiencing rather than sticking rigidly to one method.
What's your favourite thing about the Collingwood community?
How supportive everyone is. The way local businesses promote and genuinely cheer each other on creates this sense of collective care that extends beyond just transactions. It's the kind of community energy that makes showing up feel good.
A few of Leia's favourite things
Morning coffee at Ageyo Coffee, fresh sourdough bread, moving her body, reading fantasy books, and diving deep into the nerdy details of Pilates and yoga training.
